PITTSBURGH — Airbnb is cracking down on “party houses” in Allegheny County.
The company said 25 listings across the county that have received complaints or violated its policies on parties and events have been suspended or removed from the Airbnb platform.
Airbnb previously globally banned parties at its listings until further notice.
In Philadelphia, 65 listings have been suspended or removed as a result of a similar party house crackdown.
In a news release, Airbnb said the following:
“The vast majority of hosts in Pittsburgh and throughout Pennsylvania contribute positively to their neighborhoods and economy, and they also take important steps to help prevent unauthorized parties -- like establishing clear house rules, quiet hours, and communicating in advance with their guests. Our actions today address the small minority of hosts who have previously received warnings about hosting responsibly or have otherwise violated our policies.”
