HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Pennsylvania state trooper was arrested and charged with over 30 counts of child pornography-related charges.
Sean McKenzie was arrested Tuesday in Westmoreland County.
McKenzie has been on the job for more than 13 years and is a corporal for the Turnpike in New Stanton.
Investigators said he pulled a USB drive from his pocket while being questioned that allegedly had images of child pornography, and even a video from a bathroom inside a house.
Police said in that video you can see McKenzie setting up a camera in the bathroom; a young girl walking in, undressing and leaving; and McKenzie going back in to get the camera.
The investigation began in March of 2021, when Dropbox submitted a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The company reported an account that uploaded more than 200 images of child porn under a specific Gmail address. The account and IP address traced back to McKenzie, who lives in Perryopolis.
Police questioned him at the barracks — court paperwork says, “McKenzie admitted to possessing and viewing child pornography. McKenzie advised that he has been looking at child pornography since approximately 2014.”
He told investigators that he “got the (Gmail) address from a chatting website that related that he could get child pornography on this account.”
Police said McKenzie had multiple other videos and pictures on his USB drive and his phone.
He is suspended without pay.
McKenzie is in the Westmoreland County Jail on a $500,000 bail. He’s due in court next week.
