NELSON, Pa. — A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper was shot Tuesday afternoon at a home in Nelson Township, Tioga County, before a 14-hour standoff with the suspect that ended early Wednesday, authorities said.
Troopers were conducting a welfare check at a home when the subject of the welfare check opened fire, officials said.

One trooper was shot and was airlifted from the scene.
According to state police, the trooper who was shot did not require surgery. He is in stable condition.
After the trooper was shot, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home and a standoff lasted for about 14 hours, police said.
During the standoff, the suspect fired at state police numerous times, authorities said. The suspect was shot and killed about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said another trooper suffered a leg injury at the scene and was treated and released from a hospital.
