Woman killed in crash inside Pittsburgh’s Armstrong Tunnel

PITTSBURGH — A woman was killed when her vehicle crashed Wednesday morning inside Pittsburgh’s Armstrong Tunnel.

The victim was identified by the medical examiner as Barbara Ann McMillin, 57, of the South Side.

Police said McMillin’s vehicle hit a wall just before 9:45 a.m. on the inbound side of the tunnel.

A utility box that controls the traffic lights at the 2nd Avenue and 10th Street intersection was damaged. Duquesne Light has a crew working to repair the traffic signal. The lights inside the tunnel are not impacted.

The tunnel reopened around 3:30 p.m.
