Peters Township school offering unique program for parents looking for child care

PETERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Parents whose children are starting the school year online may not have anyone to watch them.

With so many districts in Pennsylvania doing online only classes for at least nine weeks, working parents are scrambling to find child care.

To meet that need, a school in Peters Township is stepping up with a new program for elementary aged children.

Paul Sartori and his wife, Sara, are the owners of Primrose School -- an accredited early education school. They have been getting calls every day from families as more schools shift to virtual and online learning.

“As you get into the school year, the state of the pandemic right now could be dramatically different in two months. School districts may change their plans,” Sartori said.

Sartori told Channel 11 they will continue to plan and adjust. For now, to help working parents, the school is providing another option for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade -- a full-day program called “explorer.”

“It’s very flexible -- two days, three days, five days a week -- to fit every families schedule, budget and virtual learning schedules they’re receiving from their schools,” Sara Sartori said.

In the all-day classes, children will also have lessons in science, reading and creativity as well as playtime -- just as they would in their own schools.

Sartori said the purpose is socialization, which is especially crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic.
