Philadelphia allowing walk-up COVID-19 vaccinations at convention center

PHILADELPHIA — People waited in line for hours to get their COVID-19 vaccine in Philadelphia.

The city is allowing walk-up vaccinations at the convention center in Center City. The clinic is still only for those people in Phase 1A and Phase 1B.

Some people got in line at 5 a.m. and said it was worth the wait.

“If you want the shot, you got to get up early and stand in line. I’m used to being out in the cold. I work for the post office,” said Philadelphia resident Lisa Kennedy.

The site is capable of giving out 6,000 vaccines each day. Half of those are for people with scheduled appointments.
