Picklesburgh returns to Pittsburgh with safety precautions, music and a juice drinking contest

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

PITTSBURGH — Picklesburgh is a celebration of everything dill pickle, complete with its signature giant 35-foot Heinz pickle balloon floating above.

The festival is taking place on the Andy Warhol (7th Street) Bridge this year. This is the sixth year of the event, and organizers said it will be the best yet.

The First National Bank Main Stage, located at Fort Duquesne Boulevard and 8th Street, is set to feature Donora (indie pop), Nox Boys (rock), Miss Freddye (blues), Najj Andrea (R&B) and Byron Nash (rock).

On the new Showcase Stage on the bridge, located at the North Shore end of the Andy Warhol (7th Street) Bridge, festivalgoers can enjoy music from The Evergreens (indie), Jacquea Mae (soul/R&B/blues) and Super Midnight (soul/funk).

The full schedule of performances can be found, HERE.

The prestigious title of Mayor of Picklesburgh, along with a $500 cash prize, is also up for grabs to the winner of the exceptionally peculiar and highly anticipated Pickle Juice Drinking Contest.

Contestants will face off in a series of preliminary rounds Friday and Saturday, August 20 and 21, to see who can drink a quart of deliciously briny pickle juice the fastest. The winners of each round then compete in the Championship Round on Sunday, August 22.

Pre-registration is now open at Picklesburgh.com/Contest.

Organizers said safety precautions will be in place, even though Picklesburgh is an outdoor, open-air festival.

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is recommending those who attend be fully vaccinated. Those unvaccinated will be required to wear a face mask or covering.

Attendees are encouraged to visit Picklesburgh.com/Safety for the most up-to-date health and safety precautions.

The free event runs from Aug. 20 to 22.
