PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is ready to tap the stage again, but in a capacity that’s literally outside of its usual home along Liberty Avenue in the Strip District.
This May, the group will begin performing on a new mobile stage on the lawn of Flagstaff Hill in Oakland’s Schenley Park as part of its two-week-long “Open Air” series. More than 20 arts organizations from around the region will also join the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre on its mobile stage, sponsorship for which has been secured by BNY Mellon and MSA Safety.
Susan Jaffe, who assumed the role as the theater’s artistic director during the pandemic’s onset last year, celebrated the announcement of the new limited series.
“Being new to Pittsburgh, I have been amazed to learn of the breadth and depth of the arts community here,” Jaffe said in a prepared statement. “It is a real privilege to be able to share the stage with such a wide range of artists.”
