CONNEAUT, Ohio — A Pittsburgh firefighter at a family outing in Ohio this weekend drowned after his family said he got caught along a breakwall in Lake Erie, went underwater and never resurfaced.
Lee Weber spent a good portion of his time serving as a firefighter for the city of Pittsburgh and recently transferred to a fire station along Baldwin Road in Hays.
Weber’s family, friends and an entire community of firefighters are trying to process that the life of a loving family man, an Army veteran and firefighter was cut short in a tragic accident.
Weber’s family wants others to know just how much he meant to so many.
He served as a firefighter for the city of Pittsburgh for a little more than five years.
His family remembers him as a selfless man who loved to help others, and that shows even after his death.
As an organ donor, Weber had helped over 100 people, according to his family.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with any expenses as a result of Weber’s death.
