Pittsburgh man reported missing in W.V. national park

11:09 P.M. UPDATE: George Gross' truck has been found, the National Park Service reported on its Facebook page for New River Gorge National River.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A former Pittsburgh firefighter is missing in West Virginia, according to the National Park Service.

George Gross, 56, of Pittsburgh was in the Beckley area on Friday, his family said, and they have not heard from him since that afternoon. He had expressed interest in hiking in or around New River Gorge National River.

His vehicle, a 1998 silver Dodge Ram pickup truck with Pennsylvania license plate YDA-1398, has not been located, the park service said.

Gross is a white male, 6’1, about 210 pounds. He has strawberry blond hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his left arm of a bulldog with “USMC” beneath.
