Officer placed on leave after using gun in foot chase in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh police officer was placed on administrative leave after they used their weapon during a foot chase.

On July 10, an officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Uxor Way and Sarah Street at around 1:25 a.m.

When the officer stopped the vehicle, two men got out. The officer told the driver and passenger to remain inside the car.

The men then ran down Uxor Way and police chased after them. During the pursuit, one officer used their weapon once. There were no injuries.

One man was arrested and charged with escape and various traffic violations.

A firearm and an undisclosed quantity of narcotics were recovered from the car.

Police are still searching for the passenger who fled the scene. The vehicle was towed by the Auto Squad.
