Police just charged a Pittsburgh CAPA school teacher with institutional sexual assault.

A student claims she began a relationship with Samuel Karas in June of 2018 and that the two went out on a series of dates.

She claims Karas' behavior escalated months later while she was at his house.

According to the criminal complaint, Karas and the student “moved to his living room couch, where he put his legs over hers and covered them with a blanket."

The complaint went on to say, “Karas eventually began kissing her and this lasted for several minutes” and “Karas moved her onto his lap during the kissing.” 5

Court documents go on to describe how Karas told the student he wanted to be in a serious relationship, allegedly claiming that he had deleted all of his dating apps from his cellphone.

Investigators said that Karas' alleged kissing and touching is considered institutional sexual assault.

A representative for Pittsburgh Public Schools said the school immediately filed a report with the child line and sent Karas home on administrative leave.

School officials said Karas "has been a teacher in the District since October 2013” and went on to say he “resigned July 18, 2019, with an effective date of June 14, 2019."
