HIGHLAND PARK — The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium is celebrating a major milestone.
The zoo officially welcomed its one millionth visitor over the weekend. So far, this year, the zoo has had over 1,000,510 annual visitors.
This is the second year the zoo reached 1 million visitors.

“We are thrilled to have welcomed more than one million visitors this year,” says Dr. Barbara Baker, president & CEO of Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. “Our success is because of our visitors and their continued support. Achieving this goal proves that we are providing our visitors with a unique experience.”
Officials said the zoo’s exhibits Jungle Odyssey and the Dinosaur Adventure along with last week’s Penguins on Parade helped this year’s attendance.
