Police: Allegheny County fugitive in custody after long search

PITTSBURGH — After a long search, police took an Allegheny County fugitive into custody Saturday.

Dale Taylor Jr., 31, of Wilkinsburg, was wanted on a criminal bench warrant for bond forfeiture at trial stemming from a 2016 gun charge, authorities said. He was also wanted on an arrest warrant from the city of Wilkinsburg.

Taylor fled from police when they approached him in June after he allegedly threatened family members with a gun, according to a release. Taylor was then charged with two counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault.

Deputies from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve both warrants on Taylor in the 600 block of Seagirt Street Friday night. As deputies surrounded the home, Taylor – who was wearing nothing but a pink bath towel – jumped out of a third story window onto a second floor rooftop.

Taylor then jumped into a neighbor’s yard, where he fled through the woods.

One deputy was seriously injured after falling from a 15-foot concrete wall, the release said. He was taken to a local hospital and remains in the intensive care unit.

Deputies searched multiple locations Saturday after receiving information that Taylor and his girlfriend, Serena Alston were together in Butler County.

They located Taylor coming out of a residence in the 600 block of Hansen Avenue in Lyndora and apprehended him.

Police also took Alston into custody after she was found in the same residence.

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance locating a fugitive who is considered armed and dangerous.

Taylor is described as a light-skinned black man with facial hair. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about Taylor’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 412-350-4714. The sheriff asks that no one attempt to stop or detain Taylor.

The Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Taylor.
