Police charge 2 men in Pitcairn murder

PITCAIRN, Pa. — Police filed charges against two men on Friday in connection with Pitcairn's first murder in six years.

Police have been tracking the two suspects for several months, even monitored their calls from inside the jail since they were arrested on other charges back in March, shortly after the murder of Anthony Bailey, 27, of Penn Hills, who was a father to an 8-year-old girl and a newborn he'll never meet.

Timothy Johnson says he's still shaken up after the shooting that left his best friend dead right in his home.

“I'm 62 years old and I ain’t never seen nobody get shot,” Johnson said. “Not in my house or street. I'm still, like, jittery.”

Police say Jamal Pampin and Brandon Thompson are responsible for Bailey’s death.

Johnson told Channel 11 that Bailey told one of them to come and pay the money he owed Bailey. Johnson says he told Bailey not to open the door.

“He pulled out a gun shot him, bam, bam,” Johnson said.

Johnson watched his friend die, then ran for his life.

“They said, ‘Oh there's a witness, there's a witness,’ then he shot at me, bam,” Johnson said.

According to the criminal complaint, both Pamplin and Thompson were picked up on unrelated charges, and police monitored their jail calls.

The complaint details a call between a woman and Thompson.

The woman says, "Don't say nothing to nobody. Don't talk to your cellmate or nothing. They put snitches in your cell."

Thompson responds: "I just got picked up on a gun charge."

The woman says: "They are building a case against you."

While they're in jail, Johnson is now looking forward to facing the suspects who tried to kill him.

“I can't wait to go to court now,” he said. “It was a senseless killing.”

Police also have surveillance video in this case they'll use at trial.

Both men are charged with conspiracy, robbery and criminal homicide.
