PENN HILLS, Pa. — A man was rushed to the hospital Sunday after a fire in Penn Hills, and there is now an investigation into what caused it.
Firefighters were initially called to the 2900 block of Laketon Road just after noon.
When first responders got there, they found the man suffering from severe burns throughout his body. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, but officials did not release his identity or his condition.
The Penn Hills fire chief, Joe McMeekin, told Channel 11 he doesn’t think this fire was an accident at all. He said it appeared that the man had gasoline poured on him and was set on fire.
“There’s an investigation going on right now that he was evidently set on fire (with gasoline),” McMeekin said.
The fire marshal, along with an arson dog, were brought in to help with the investigation.
