Police investigating shooting involving several vehicles on Route 28

SHARPSBURG — Two people were injured in a shooting incident involving several vehicles on Route 28.

State police said the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, near the Route 8 N. exit in Sharpsburg.

When troopers arrived, Pittsburgh Police Department officers were on scene with the vehicle which had several indications of being in a shooting, police said. A short time later two people arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police said several vehicles were heading south from the Highland Park bridge and gunshots were exchanged between the vehicles. The individuals who were hit were each in separate vehicles and transported to the hospital by others on scene, police said.
