HOMESTEAD — A Dravosburg man is facing charges after police said he stabbed another person multiple times in the face outside the Giant Eagle store located in the Waterfront.
Robert Lee Rochelle, 45, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and related offenses after the incident at the store shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Homestead police said the victim reported being stabbed by a jitney driver, and medics determined he had a punctured lung and multiple stab wounds on his upper body. None of the wounds were life-threatening.
Surveillance footage showed Rochelle pulling up in his vehicle before confronting the victim, reaching into his pocket and pulling a knife, and then charging the man. The victim ran away, and Rochelle chased him into the store before driving off, police said.
While police were investigating, Rochelle called to report he was threatened at the store, and eventually admitted to the stabbing, according to a criminal complaint. He turned himself in around 2 p.m.
The complaint states that Rochelle told police that the victim had threatened to shoot him. The knife was not recovered, and Rochelle told police that he had thrown it away after the stabbing because he was concerned about being caught with it.
A store spokesperson told Channel 11 the incident is being handled by police and they had no comment.
