Police said he threw concrete at an officer during Pittsburgh rioting, now he’s behind bars

PITTSBURGH — Days after Pittsburgh police released several pictures of a man they believe was involved in throwing objects, injuring an officer and looting businesses during riots in the downtown area, they report he is now in jail.

Police said Andrew Augustyniak-Duncan, 24, of Carnegie was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, riot and three counts of recklessly endangering another person. He was already in the Allegheny County Jail, behind held on unrelated charges.

According to investigators, Augustyniak-Duncan was spotted on surveillance cameras “throwing concrete rocks and debris at police, one time striking an officer – causing a concussion.”

Police said he also was involved in looting at least one business on May 30.

The man was seen wearing a dark shirt and jeans and carrying a backpack outside the Wood Street T-station.
