PITTSBURGH — Police say one person is in critical condition and another is in stable condition following a shooting in Larimer that SWAT responded to.
SWAT was on scene outside a residence in the 6400 block of Shetland Street for a possible barricade situation following a shooting, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety. Police arrived at the scene at around 7:20 p.m..
The man in critical condition took himself to the hospital while the man in stable condition was transported to the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg. The man in stable condition was at the scene when police arrived.
SWAT was called to the scene after multiple residents exited a house and told police two males were barricaded inside, possibly armed. Multiple verbal hails were given over several hours, with negative results.
After receiving permission from a key holder to enter the residence, it was determined that no actors and no additional victims were inside.
Three large dogs were reportedly also in the backyard at the home.
A flash bang went off while Channel 11 was at the scene. Police said that was to distract the dogs and to get them away from the scene and to safety.
Animal Care and Control was called to attend to the dogs. Their owner was located to take them inside.
Major Crimes and the Crime Scene Unit arrived to process the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
