Police: Woman mauled by dogs in Homewood

PITTSBURGH — One person suffered serious head injuries in a dog attack in Homewood Saturday morning.

Pittsburgh police said the incident occurred in the 1000 block of Blackadore Street around 9:10 a.m., when a woman was mauled by two dogs.

The woman suffered serious wounds to head and face and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police said the victim is related to the dogs’ owner and was trying to let the dogs out when the attack occurred.

The dogs were secure inside the home. Animal Care & Control responded to take possession of the dogs. The Violent Crime Unit is investigating.
