SPRINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A pool in Springdale Township could close if more people don’t join.

To hopefully entice people, membership fees for Bouquet Park Pool have been dropped by $200, Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE reported.

So far, about 45 people have signed up, but that might not be enough to keep the pool open. If 250 memberships aren’t sold by March 1, the pool’s board could potentially close it.

Pool board member Kellie Vergerio hopes the community comes together and joins.

“I grew up coming to this pool. I worked here. It was my first job in the summer and, yeah, it's a lot of people over the years share their stories about the pool and how much fun they had as kids, so no one wants to see it go. It’s a real community asset to have,” Vergerio told Channel 11 News.

Last year, the pool had 114 members, according to TribLIVE.

In addition to lowering membership fees, the pool is extending hours to 8 p.m. on weekdays, TribLIVE reported. On Fridays the pool hours would be until 9 p.m.

A sign-up event is being held from noon to 4 p.m. on Feb. 29 at Fat Cat Subs in Harmar Township. People can also sign up through Bouquet Park Pool’s Facebook page or by picking up an application at the following businesses in town: Springdale Free Public Library, Glassmere, Sheetz, Anytime Fitness, Subway, Trading Post, Goodwill, Dollar General, Beer & Beyond and Springdale Laundromat.

Family membership fees are now $350 and single memberships are $250, TribLIVE reported. The cost for senior citizens is $200.
