PITTSBURGH — Police are investigating after human remains were found in a wooded area of Pittsburgh.

Chopper 11 saw investigators and police vehicles in the area of the 2000 block of Colwell Street near a small market and apartment building. This is near the Crawford-Roberts and Uptown neighborhoods.

The wooded area is roughly a half mile from the Pittsburgh Police Zone 2 substation.

Investigators said they were called to the area around 2 p.m. Thursday and were directed to the remains by a work crew. It was determined the remains were of human origin.

“People know its a dead end street so they come back here and park. We hear gun shots. People are just sitting out here parked. You don’t know who it is so you call the cops,” said Darlene Davis who lives on Colwell Street.

The medical examiner has not yet identified the remains.
