DUQUESNE, Pa. — A possible medical emergency caused a crash in Duquesne, where a vehicle ended up over a hillside.

The crash occurred shortly after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Duquesne Boulevard.

Officials said the SUV went through the intersection and crashed into a guide rail and a fence which acted as a ramp, launching the vehicle 50 feet down the hill, narrowly missing a tree and gas line, after the driver had a possible medical issue.

The vehicle was stabilized on the hillside and the driver was taken out, before being taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“It was a very tedious process. And I’m glad it worked out the way it did. It was all hands on deck. Teamwork. City of Duquesne, Duquesne annex, West Mifflin 294 and Homeville station 293 all work together. It was teamwork, dream work. Luck was on our side,” Duquesne Fire Chief Frank Cobb said. “We had to form a train of guys. With about 20 personnel to bring her from the vehicle up to the ambulance.”
