President Trump holds campaign-style rally in Youngstown

President Donald Trump held a campaign-style rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Tuesday night.

The state was crucial to his November victory.

The president honored local veterans as part of the White House's "American Heroes Week," but many people said they are also waiting for his comments on health care. Trump has been rallying Senate Republicans to vote on a bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, which has been in place for seven years.

Trump's supporters camped out near the venue for hours to have a chance to see the president speak at the Covelli Centre, where there was no shortage of excitement and enthusiasm.

"We should all be united and come together for the best interests of America, and that's what he's trying to do," said Shane Bouvet, of Illinois.

Youngstown has traditionally been a "blue" town, but the president's message played well there in 2016 and despite the controversies, he's still extremely popular.

"With few exceptions, no president has done anywhere near what we've done in his first six months," Trump said Tuesday night to thousands of loud and boisterous supporters. "We're now one step closer to liberating our citizens from this Obamacare nightmare."

Several protesters were removed after interrupting the president and his family.

"We will never again sacrifice Ohio jobs or job from any state in our Union to enrich other countries which is what's happening to this country," Trump said.

While issues like health care and tax reform are important to many of the supporters gathered to hear the president speak, it's far from the only reason they came out on Tuesday. Many people said they want Trump to know he had support, despite sinking poll numbers.

One man stayed overnight outside of the venue to ensure he got a good spot to see the commander-in-chief.

"President Trump told us during the campaign he's going to be the best jobs president God ever created, and he's absolutely correct. We're going to hear about his accomplishments and all the great things he's been doing for our country," said Gene Huber, of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The president spoke to a group of local veterans in a private event nearby earlier in the evening.
