PITTSBURGH — Days after a violent brawl at Brashear High School, the principal has been placed on administrative leave, a Pittsburgh Public Schools spokesperson confirmed to Channel 11 News on Tuesday.

The reason for the action taken against the principal is connected to Friday’s brawl, which left a 17-year-old student motionless in the high school’s hallway after he was body-slammed and had his face stomped on multiple times. He was taken to a hospital.
A district official said multiple students were involved in the fight, which is under review.

In a statement, a school spokesperson said Brashear High School’s principal is on “non-disciplinary paid administrative leave pending a district review of last Friday’s incident.”

Friday’s fight follows several other incidents of violence.
In November, a school police officer was hurt after being assaulted by four students. In a separate incident, a student allegedly punched a school officer -- the same officer who was hurt in October while breaking up a fight outside the school.
