Starting Monday, restaurants will be allowed to seat more patrons inside after Gov. Tom Wolf relaxed restrictions on indoor dining.

The news has been welcomed by the restaurant industry, which has been devastated by the coronavirus. Pennsylvania restaurants can increase their indoor dining capacity to 50%.

“That’s the other side of it. We’re really excited and hopeful and thankful that we get to bring people back to work and maybe make some money, but we’re actually doing it cautiously,” Bill Fuller, owner of Big Burrito Restaurant Group, said.

Fuller said he is now reopening specialty restaurants that were closed since July. The openings will be gradual, with Kaya in the Strip District opening up first. Soba, Umi and Casbah will open the week of Sept. 28. Alta Via in Fox Chapel and Eleven in Downtown Pittsburgh will open the first week of October

“We’re doing everything we can. We want our guests, our employees, and our community to all feel safe coming to us. That’s important,” Fuller said.

The restaurants will be open Wednesday through Sunday with limited menus, and masks must be worn inside except when seated at tables and eating.
