McCutcheon was a sophomore at Robert Morris, and a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity on campus. The university issued a statement regarding his death Sunday morning:
“The RMU community is deeply saddened by the loss of this promising young man, and we grieve with his family,” said Jonathan Potts, director of public relations. “We have counseling services available for any student, faculty, or staff who needs to seek help over the coming days.”
Police said there was no other vehicle involved in the accident.
McCutcheon was declared dead at the scene.
"(McCutcheon) was talented and charming, and I will always be proud to call him my Brother," said Vince Russo, an alumnus of RMU and Delta Tau Delta. "He was well known on campus and will certainly leave a void in the community."
Police are investigating the incident.
