MT. PLEASANT, Pa. — Robert Levin and his partners celebrated reopening the downtown Mt. Pleasant store his grandfather started more than 100 years ago.
“It’s such a special day, the return of Levin’s to Mt. Pleasant,” Levin told our partners at TribLive.com.
It’s the latest piece of the puzzle created last January when Levin first heard his family furniture chain that he sold in 2017 was in danger of closing up. He was able to buy back 17 stores, but Loves Furniture and Mattresses was able to beat him to several others, including the Mt. Pleasant location. That company eventually folded after it said the pandemic impacted their supply chain among other issues.
Levin said demand has been brisk and he and his partners have longtime relationships that can help them keep inventory. New stores will open in State College and Altoona, bringing the chain to 25 stores.
