PITTSBURGH — Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is sending prayers to injured teammate Ryan Shazier.

The linebacker is still at a Cincinnati hospital, getting more tests done on his back, team officials said. Shazier continues to be monitored and treated by neurosurgery experts after he was carted off the field during Monday night’s game.

“It’s a brother. It’s a teammate. You never like to see injuries happen in football, regardless if it’s a sprained ankle or something like what happened to Ryan," Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger said he is talking with Shazier and that the linebacker wants the team to continue to prepare for the game against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday.

Roethlisberger also reacted to the NFL’s suspension of rookie receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Smith-Schuster was suspended for one game after his illegal blindside block on Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

Smith-Schuster's appeal of his suspension was heard Tuesday and denied.
