ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Thieves are on the prowl for a pricey piece of your car, and it has police in an Allegheny County community issuing a warning.
Ross Township police want people who live there to be aware about catalytic converter thefts.

Over the weekend, police said a man in the Laurel Gardens neighborhood found two men under his and his neighbor’s cars.
An area mechanic, who has been a victim of this crime, said thieves want to sell the platinum to scrap yards.

“That’s why we have security cameras, because it’s a crime of opportunity, so to speak. If they see cars in a dark lot or something, they’re looking; so you got to keep an eye on where your car is parked and for how long,” said John Lentz, owner of ATC Towing Service.
Ross police said the suspects drove off in a silver, older-style Chevrolet Silverado, possibly a 2000 or 2003 model.
