Ross Township road closed after fallen tree damages power lines, utility poles

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A road in Ross Township is closed after strong winds Sunday evening toppled a tree, damaging power lines and two utility poles, officials said.

Thompson Run Road will be closed until about noon Monday while crews make repairs, Duquesne Light said.

When the tree fell at the intersection of Thompson Run Road and Babcock Boulevard, power was knocked out for nearly 2,000 Duquesne Light customers.

Officials with the power company said most of the customers had their power restored by 12:45 a.m. Six customers remained without power as of 4:30 a.m.
