Mail carrier getting out to deliver package hit, killed by car

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A rural route mail carrier was hit and killed by a vehicle in Greene County Monday.

According to the coroner’s office, Chad Varner, 49, was hit after getting out of his vehicle to deliver a package.

This happened in Morris Township shortly after 4 p.m.

Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy for more information.
