PITTSBURGH — With a flush and boil water advisory in effect for multiple northern Pittsburgh neighborhoods, as well as Millvale and Reserve Township, schools in the impacted areas are taking precautions.
Here’s what’s being done:
Pittsburgh Public Schools:
Pittsburgh Public Schools said all schools will remain open Tuesday and the district is prepared to serve schools impacted by the flush and boil water advisory.
“Following a flush and boil water advisory this past January, the District put additional precautionary measures in place to ensure student wellness and safety,” the district said in a news release.
All schools in the impacted areas will receive daily deliveries of bottled water and all kitchen and utility sinks and water fountains will be covered to prevent use. Restroom sinks will remain uncovered so that students can wash their hands, and hand sanitizer will also be available.
The following Pittsburgh Public Schools are impacted:
- Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5
- Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8
- Pittsburgh Clayton
- Pittsburgh Conroy
- Pittsburgh King PreK-8
- Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8
- Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-8

Two district programs, City Connections - CCAC and an early childhood center located in the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, are also impacted by the temporary advisory.
Shaler Area School District:
The Shaler Area School District said Reserve Primary School would operate on a normal schedule Tuesday.
In a letter to parents posted on its website, the district said bottled water will be provided to students and staff at Reserve Primary and water fountains will be covered. Students will still be able to wash their hands in the bathrooms.
Food for breakfast and lunch will be prepared off-site by the school’s food service contractor, the district said.
Propel Schools – Northside:
Propel Northside said it has taken the necessary safety precautions and school would be in session Tuesday.
In a Facebook post, Propel Schools said water fountains at Propel Northside will be covered and unavailable to students, but bottled water will be available. Food will be delivered from an outside vendor.
