MONROEVILLE, Pa. — Two men and a 16-year-old boy who are suspected in a string of armed robberies were arrested after a crash Thursday night in Monroeville, authorities confirmed Friday morning.
Robert Webb, 23, Deon Dutrieuille, 19, and Dontae Dutrieuille, 16, are charged in connection to the robberies in different communities.
Police said they were able to tie the trio to the crimes through surveillance footage, and there was stolen cash and bags of potato chips found in their crashed car.
Surveillance video from inside DS Food Mart in McKeesport showed two of the suspects wearing masks as they walked into the store. One of them then made the clerk fill up a bag with cash as the other blocked the door while holding a gun toward the clerk, officials said. They grabbed bags of chips as they ran out.
About 45 minutes before the robbery at DS Food Mart, the suspects robbed the Crossroads Sunoco in West Mifflin at gunpoint and again got away with cash, according to police.
The night ended with a crash that split a utility pole in half about 6 p.m. on Route 48 in Monroeville. Police said the suspects tried to run, but they were arrested almost immediately.
Neighbors said the sound of the crash was deafening.
“The lights went out, and I heard a big, loud crash. Then, all of a sudden, we started hearing sirens ... helicopters started flying over the buildings. My window was shaking,” Michelle Piolo said.
Several police departments, including Monroeville, White Oak and North Versailles, responded to the crash.
For several hours after the crash, about 40 customers were without power, according to Duquesne Light.
