When emergency crews first arrived, they couldn’t get inside the room. Once there were able to reach the victims, they were removed and taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not yet been released.
Channel 11 did some digging and found the building inspection reports for the facility.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the building was inspected in January 2020. The operators were cited for 20 issues and inspectors found “deficiencies that have potential for minimal harm.” Operators of the facility were told to correct the issues by March 2.
All of the issues found were considered to be minor, and it’s not clear if any of them could be linked to the ceiling collapse.
Channel 11 reached out to officials at the Grove at Washington for a statement, we were told someone would be available to comment later Tuesday.
