Sheriff’s deputies shot at by ATV riders in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — Shots were fired at Allegheny County Sheriff’s deputies by two people riding an ATV late Thursday night in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, police said.

The deputies said they were fired upon about 10 p.m. near the intersection of Beechwood Boulevard and Douglas Street, authorities said. The deputies then returned fire.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators said the ATV was last seen turning onto Loretta Street from Lilac Street, speeding into the Greenfield and Hazelwood areas.

Pittsburgh Police Major Crimes detectives are handling the investigation.
