PITTSBURGH — One person is dead after they were shot and led police on a pursuit onto the Homestead Grays Bridge on Tuesday night.
According to police, 21-year-old Maurice Cole was shot near the intersection of Frayne Street and Sabina Street in Hazelwood just after 9:45 p.m. Cole then got into a Jeep and led police on a pursuit before stopping in the middle of traffic on the bridge. Investigators said they pursued him because of his gunshot.
When officers approached the stopped vehicle, they provided aid to Cole until paramedics got there. He was then rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he died.

Investigators said a discarded gun was recovered at the scene on the bridge.
It’s not clear what led to the shooting.
Neighbors called it an unbelievable tragedy.
“I seen the boy running out the door and I seen the other boy running after him and he just shot him on the steps,” one woman told Channel 11.
“It’s scary that it was so close but my heart always goes out to anybody who’s involved in any kind of violence in their family. I have a son. Somebody’s mom is having to deal with that today and it makes me sad,” Sarah Williams said.
