Most of the area woke up Wednesday to snow – and some areas received nearly ten inches of snow.

Snow began to break out from southwest to northeast after midnight. The snow was heavy at times from Pittsburgh and north. South of the city of Pittsburgh freezing rain and sleet quickly mixed in limited snowfall amounts. There was nearly a five-inch difference in snow from Elizabeth to Warrendale in Allegheny County.

The heaviest snow rain from Beaver county northeast through Butler, Venango and Clarion counties. Ice accumulation of nearly a quarter coated trees, sidewalks and powerlines in areas east and south of Pittsburgh.
Any mixed precipitation will end as a brief period of snow before ending by mid-afternoon.
