PITTSBURGH — Kevin Stallings is out as the Pittsburgh Panthers' men's basketball coach, the University of Pittsburgh announced Thursday.
Pitt's Director of Athletics Heather Lyke issued a statement:
"I want to express my appreciation to Coach Stallings for his commitment to our program. In moving forward, we have tremendous expectations for our men's basketball program at Pitt and I believe we can achieve great things within the Atlantic Coast Conference and nationally. A national search for the next Pitt head coach will begin immediately."
It hasn’t been the best season for the Pittsburgh Panther’s men’s basketball team. In fact, it’s been one of the worst.

In his two years with the Panthers, Stallings’ overall record of 24-41 is less than impressive, with a 5-34 record in the ACC Conference.
The frustration among Pitt alumni boiled over and attendance at the Petersen Events Center plummeted.

The team's last win came on Dec. 22 when it defeated the Towson Tigers 63-52.
Pitt was the only team out of 351 Division 1 programs without a conference win this season.
Stalling's buyout was close to $10 million.
