MILLVALE, Pa. — Fire crews handled a blaze at Millvale Studios building in Millvale on Monday evening.

Part of North Avenue was closed, according to the Millvale Volunteer Fire Department.

The Millvale fire chief told Channel 11 that the fire started in the middle of the building inside the studios.

Tara Moleswoith and Erika Laing were inside the building about to perform a radio podcast on the internet station Rivers Edge when they heard a noise and saw flames.

TRENDING NOW:

“We heard a light pop or saw some kind of glass pop… 10 minutes later I heard crackling and saw fire up to the ceiling. We got out of here,” Moleswoith said.

The two women ran out of the building and called 911.

Firefighters from several departments responded and quickly got the fire under control.

“There was a lot of smoke – a lot of smoke,” Laing said.

No one else was in the building that houses art studios, a yoga space and the radio station.

The fire chief said there is a lot of smoke damage, which is worrying people who work there.

Laing and Moleswoith said that a lot of artwork from the art studio is most likely wrecked. It’s all local people who put money, time and effort into the art, they said.
