Jones had been out with her sister and two little kids. After they all went inside, Jones went back out to the car to grab something when she was hit.
She was hospitalized in an induced coma with internal bleeding and several broken bones before she died Tuesday night.
The fire department is just a few blocks away from where the crash happened, and investigators believe surveilance video from the building shows the truck responsible.
"The driver might’ve thought he hit a car, but maybe he didn’t know he hit a person," New Castle police Lt. Dave Cumo said. "We would like the person to come forward to get his version of what happened."
