PITTSBURGH — Police said a teen was shot while getting into a car to go to school in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning.
Investigators responded to the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and North Murtland Street around 8 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old shot. Investigators said the victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian and is in critical condition.
Several shell casings and evidence markers sit in the middle of Hamilton Avenue.
Police tell Channel 11 the teen was getting into a black car when the shooting happened. The car pulled off the road a few blocks away, with a shattered window.

People who live in the neighborhood are calling for an end to the violence.
“They are shooting these little babies 17, 2, 3, 4. It's ridiculous, really, they really need to stop this. Put the guns down," Meme Dobbins said. “That's a shame, and I feel sorry for his mom and I put my heart out to her that he will be OK because it's just ridiculous.”
Ebony Pugh, a spokesperson for Pittsburgh Public Schools, said three schools were impacted by the shooting: Pittsburgh Faison was placed on lockdown, and the Student Achievement Center and Westinghouse were on a modified lockdown, Pugh said.
The lockdowns have since been lifted.
