The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Pennsylvania is growing by the day.

Medical experts said we could be seeing a possible third wave of the virus.

In Butler County, doctors are telling people to heed the warnings after they’ve seen an increase in hospitalizations.

“I think the overall senses that I get is that people don’t want to wear masks, and some people don’t even think the masks work,” said Amanda Lewis.

“I’ve seen numerous times that I’ve been out in the stores, people are not wearing masks, and they’re not being cautious,” said Danielle Goncalves.

The Channel 11 crew saw several people going inside stores in Butler County not wearing a mask and coming out the same way. And Lewis told us it’s the norm.

“Like at the Y, not everyone is wearing their masks. Or at church, not everyone is wearing their mask. And grocery stores, where you have to, everyone is,” Lewis said.

Goncalves works in the medical field. She told Channel 11 she’s seen what happens to people who don’t heed the COVID-19 safety protocols.

“I’ve not seen anybody die personally, but I know of cases. Yes,” Goncalves said.

The Commonwealth broke yesterday’s record with more than 4,700 COVID-19 cases in one day. And to the west, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is threatening another shutdown of bars, restaurants and gyms if cases there continue to rise.

And some people have mixed feelings about another shutdown coming to Pennsylvania.

On Gov. Tom Wolf will address the Commonwealth in regard to how his office plans to deal with the rise in COVID-19.
