Three people charged after off-duty police officer hurt in Pittsburgh bar fight

PITTSBURGH — Three people are facing charges after a fight broke out in a South Hills bar Saturday night.

It allegedly started when a woman attacked an off-duty Pittsburgh police detective at the Brook Line N Sinker bar in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Court documents allege Angie Hindman, 44, attacked off-duty Pittsburgh police Detective Michelle McHenry.

In the criminal complaint, officers stated McHenry and Hindman knew each other because McHenry had investigated Hindman’s son in the past.

The altercation began when Hindman approached McHenry yelling “you’re not going to come after my son… he didn’t do nothing,” according to court documents.

A witness, who declined to give her name, told Channel 11 that Hindman hit McHenry inside the small dive bar, before the violence moved outside.

That was when two other people jumped in, according to documents. Those two people are believed to be Matthew Hindman and Brianna Holland. They are charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

According to the officer’s report, surveillance video appears to show Angie Hindman hit McHenry 17 times in the face.

McHenry was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Police said McHenry’s face was severely swollen and she had “red marks on the left side of her neck, consistent with strangulation.”

Angie Hindman faces charges for aggravated assault, strangulation, and retaliation against a witness or victim. She was arraigned Sunday and posted bail and is due back in court on November 18.
