TIMELINE: How the suspect in rape, murder of 13-month-old was captured

Joshua Gurto, the Ohio man charged with the rape and murder of a 13-month-old girl, has been arrested in Franklin Park after a nationwide manhunt.

Gurto, 37, was sought for nearly three weeks, wanted by the United States Marshals Service and the Conneaut Police Department in the murder out of Ashtabula County, authorities said.

Here is a timeline of what led up to the arrest of Gurto.

OCT. 6, 2017
•    Police respond to a call about an unresponsive child at an apartment in Conneaut, northeast of Cleveland, The Associated Press reported. Sereniti Jazzlynn-Sky Blankenship-Sutley had blunt-force injuries to her head and body. She died at a hospital.

OCT. 16, 2017
•    Gurto became the subject of a nationwide manhunt when he was charged with aggravated murder and rape.

OCT. 25, 2017
•    Gurto was spotted Wednesday at the Sheetz in Ohio Township.  The quiet community became the center of the multi-state manhunt, leaving many residents uneasy leading up to his arrest.

OCT. 26, 2017
•    Officials said searched on the ground and used a drone to search the woods near where he was spotted. They said they found an old campsite, but no sign Gurto.

OCT. 27, 2017
•    Early Friday morning, he was seen near another Sheetz, on Nicholson Road in Franklin Park, police said.  Police in Franklin Park said Gurto was wearing all camouflage and carrying a backpack when an officer recognized him.

Gurto is in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting extradition to Ohio.
