Two shootings reported in Swissvale Sunday morning

SWISSVALE, Pa. — Two shootings were reported in Swissvale several blocks from each other within 20 minutes early Sunday.

The first incident occurred in the 100 block of Smokey Wood Drive around 1:05 a.m. Sunday. Police said a 23-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the lower torso. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Vivirone E. Roberts, 23, of Pittsburgh.

Shortly after, around 1:25 a.m., a second shooting was reported in the 7500 block of Washington Avenue. There, police found a 22-year-old man shot in the stomach. This victim is in stable condition at an area hospital, police said.

Detectives are working to determine if the incidents are related. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
