PITTSBURGH — Two women were found dead inside a Pittsburgh home Monday.

Police think they overdosed, but neighbors said the women were not drug users.

Channel 11 has learned one of the victims is reported to be a woman we interviewed last week about the drug and violence problems in her Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood.

Police told Channel 11 the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office will be working to figure out exactly how these two women died. Neighbors said the deaths are hitting the neighborhood hard.

"I'm devastated," said Marissa Lambing. She told Channel 11 the women were close friends and that she had a special relationship with one of them, MaryAnn Roose.

"Everybody called her grandma. She was like my mother," Lambing said.

Police are investigating the deaths as a possible drug overdose.

Last week, Roose, 59, talked to Channel 11 about the uptick in crime in her neighborhood after, she said, her nephew was dragged out of his home and beaten up.

Police said the people who beat him wanted cash and drugs.

Roose's pastor told Channel 11 she was in church on Sunday.

"She just ushered in the church yesterday. She was in the prayer line," Frank Tillman, a pastor with Christian Fellowship Center Church of God in Christ, said. "It's a great loss, a great tragedy. This is really a great shock and great loss."

Authorities say the other woman who died was Serena Hardy, 48.

"It's shocking. Those two never really did any drugs," Lambing said.
