PITTSBURGH — An UPMC employee was fired after the health system found out some health information about UPMC St. Margaret patients was inappropriately disclosed.
The former employee is accused of sending a medication administration report outside the health organization without a “business need.”
UPMC immediately initiated an internal investigation. The former employee’s system and information access was terminated and they were let go from UPMC, according to a release. UPMC also has notified federal authorities.
