PITTSBURGH — A landmark agreement between Highmark and UPMC for 10-year contract was met with cheers last week, but it's not all good news.
Channel 11's Amy Hudak has learned that 300,000 Highmark members, including Highmark employees, were essentially left out from the agreement.
Under the deal, Highmark members and employees with limited access plans will only be able to use UPMC's Children's Hospital and Western Psychiatric. This includes Community Blue and Select Blue.
Hillman Cancer Center will be out of network beginning July 1.

"They're assuming through the announcement that if that have Highmark, they now have access to UPMC and that's not the case," Barry Landsperger, CEO of Comprehensive Assurance, said.
Members of these plans never had full access to UPMC, but because of the consent decree they were allowed to get treatment at Hillman. That agreement expires at midnight on June 30.
